INTRODUCTION:

The cost of developing a drug is increasing over the years. To date, a new drug often takes 10 to 15 years to launch with the development cost between US$ 1.5 and2.0 billion. This skyrocketing cost was in part due to the high attrition in drug development. Drugs failed in clinical evaluations are primarily due to safety and efficacy as well as pharmacokinetics related issues. Therefore, the design and development of safe and efficacious drug-like molecules with desired physicochemical properties and pharmacokinetic profiles would help to maximize the chance of success in drug development.

The central theme for the IAPC-9 meeting is “Emerging Technologies in Drug Discovery and Development”, which aims at disseminating and sharing novel technologies and cutting edge platforms in drug discovery and development, with particular emphases to:

(1) cut down R&D cost using the state-of-art drug design and the latest technologies.

(2) avoid likely liabilityand mitigate potential risk at the early drug discovery stage with efficient ADMET evaluations.

(3) reduce drug attrition during both drug discovery and development phases.

(4)improve drug transition/efficacy and human dose prediction utilizing reliable preclinical (animal) models and relevant PK/PD and translational models.

(5) ensure drug safety by comprehensive safety assessments and de-risking approaches.

The IAPC-9 meeting will be organized by the International Association of Physical Chemists, ADMET and DMPK Journal and co-organized by Shanghai Hengrui Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. The conference is aimed at providing a unique global forum where scientists and experts working in different but closely related areas of pharmaceutical research, from drug discovery through to drug development, will meet in a relaxed atmosphere to discuss their results and challenges. The previous conferences have been successfully held in European and Asian countries, e.g., Rovinj, Zadar, Dubrovnik, Red Island, Zhuhai, Zagreb, Osaka.In 2019 IAPC-8 conference takes place in Split, Croatia.

IAPC-9 meeting will proceed through the series of the plenary, keynote and oral talks as well as poster presentation, which will cover the following main sessions and topics：

1. Drug design/Drug screening (AI, DNA-encoded library, PROTAC, computational aided drug design and other new technologies/platforms)

2.Physicochemicalproperties/Formulation

3. Solid state, polymorphism, cocrystals

4. Absorption, metabolism, excretion, elimination and toxicology (ADMET)/bioanalysis

5. Pharmacology

6. Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics (PK/PD)

7. Toxicology/Preclinicalsafety and druggability assessments

8. Translational medicine and imaging technology

9. Computational methods, biophysical and analytical techniques of importance in medicinal chemistry and pharmaceutical research

10. Case studies including academia-pharma-CRO collaborations.

ABSTRACT & PUBLICATION

Participants are encouraged to present their work either by oral or poster presentation.

Abstract submission: The one-page abstractshould be prepared as Word document according to the Instructions for authors and using the Template. The abstracts should be sent through the Abstract submission form. The form will appear as a menu item after you login to your user pages using your username and password. If you have not yet done so please register with the IAPC website. Registration is quick and easy.

The corresponding author will be notified about its reception within 14 days. If not, please kindly enquire about it. When sending the abstract please select the session and indicate your preferred presentation type: oral or poster. The organizer will do its best to secure enough speaking slots but please note that due to the high interest and a tight schedule of the conference only limited number of presentations could be presented orally.

Deadline for abstract submission: April 15, 2020.

Full paper submission: Selected conference contribution will be invited for submission in the special issue of the European Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IF 3.532).

The conference proceedings will be published as a special issue of ADMET and DMPK, WoS and Scopus indexed journal. The participants are encouraged to suggest their contributions to this special issue.

The special issue is planned for December , 2020.

Article submission deadline: September 1, 2020.

BEST POSTER AWARDS:

（优秀论文奖）

The posters presented at the Meeting will be reviewed by the poster selection jury nominated by IAPC-9 scientific committee. The jury will evaluate posters according to the clarity of presentation, visual appearance and scientific merit of the presented work. Six authors whose posters scored highest marks will be awarded.

First prize：receives honorarium in the amount of 2000 CNY.
Two second prizes：receive honorarium in the amount of 1500 CNY.
Three third prizes：in the amount of 1000 CNY.
Special awards：Six young Ph.D. students and/or Post-docs receive a book donated by Prof. Johan Gabrielsson or Prof. Zoran Mandić for their excellent presentations.
